Success Stories
Belle2, April 2002
Belle is a yellow Lab that was seen running down an interstate highway in Utah. She was
accompanied by a male Lab. A good Samaritan stopped and picked up the two dogs since they were in danger of being hit by a car. "Barney" was placed with an adoptive family when an owner could not be
found.
Belle was discovered to be pregnant, and too far along to spay. When Belle went into labor, there were problems. A trip to the emergency vet was required. Belle had to have an emergency C-section
to deliver her six pups.
Belle did well after the C-section, but she did not care for her pups for several
days. The foster home bottle fed the pups and took care of them, but only two survived. Belle finally remembered her mothering instincts and took over the care and feeding of her two remaining
pups.
LABMED funded the emergency C-section for Belle. Her loving foster family adopted her. Belle and her pups got a second chance.
