Berkely, February 2002

This lovely, two year old, yellow Lab found herself at the Berkeley County Shelter in South Carolina. Berkeley tested positive for heartworms. One of the shelter workers contacted Low Country Lab Rescue and LABMED, and took Berkeley home to foster.

LABMED funded Berkeley's heartworm treatment. Although she completed the treatment without any problems, treatment of heartworms is extremely hard on even an otherwise healthy dog. A simple monthly dose of heartworm preventative would have saved Berkeley from this ordeal. Berkeley has now been placed in a new, loving home.
