Connor, October, 1999
Have you ever had a friend in need? Connor, a black Lab from the Calhoun County Animal Shelter, was in desperate
need of one. Luckily Connor has two friends - a special person in Alabama and LABMED.
The shelter stated that Connor was thrown out of a car in the parking lot of the shelter. Would these people provide responsible care for a dog? Apparently not. Connor was
now homeless, and he tested heartworm positive.
Most people would not have adopted a dog with heartworms, but his adopter saw something special in this big guy who came with a docked tail. He has the typical Lab temperament, and his
prognosis was good. The cost of heartworm treatment was the only obstacle to his forever home.
A search on the Internet found LABMED. Thankfully we were able to help Connor, and he now has a home he may call
his own. A Lab in need is a friend indeed!
