Success StoriesJory, June 2004
Jory is a lucky three year old black Lab. He was picked up off an expressway in Houston and brought to a shelter with injuries as a result being hit by a car. Heart of Texas Lab Rescue was notified about poor Jory and they came to his rescue. He had a pelvic fracture that required repair to get this fella back in action. Unfortunately, Jory's bad luck didn't end here. He was also heartworm positive. The Heart of Texas Lab Rescue contacted LABMED to see if they could assist with funding Jory to help get him that second chance to have the life a LAB loves. Long walks, romps and retrieves! Jory is one of the many Lab and Lab-mixes funded with help from LABMED. He is also one of the lucky one who can look forward to a healthy life as long as he receives heartworm preventive on a regular basis. Heartworm prevention is easy, but the treatment if the dog gets heartworm, can be very hard on a dog. Please help us to educate dog owners about heartworm disease. Not everyone is aware of how life-threatening heartworms can be and how EASY it is to prevent them. Administering heartworm preventative on a regular basis is part of responsible dog ownership. At last update, Jory was ready to begin his adoption process. He will be looking to pick a new loving home that will give him his heartworm prevention medication and keep him in a safe environment. LABMED was glad to be able to help fund Jory and put the swagger back into his stride. |
