Success StoriesPrincess2, September 2002
Princess, a female black Lab out of the Ohio Humane Education Association, came into rescue with a very serious problem. This sweet young girl was dumped at an overpopulated shelter with a mangled leg, which had been previously broken but never treated. Because of the age of the injury, her leg had healed but was useless and badly infected. After a consultation with the vet, it was determined that Princess would require an amputation of the leg. With little funds and many dogs already in the shelter, Princess stood a slim chance of getting medical treatment and finding a home. OHEA applied for funding from LABMED on Princess’s behalf, and the board was happy to vote to fund her treatment. The amputation was done on September 3, and Princess has recovered nicely. The applicant said, “Princess is progressing nicely and does not appear to notice that she’s down one leg”. The vet also said that Princess was a real sweetheart and should be into a forever home in no time. |
