Abbe, July 1999

Abbe Abbe, a one year old, black female, was found by some folks at an auto repair store in Ohio, who turned her over to the SPCA. Abbe was lame in both the front and rear legs and had old abrasions indicating that she was probably hit by a car. A trip to the vet indicated that Abbe was also heartworm positive. The vet felt that Abbe's lameness would improve over time without medical treatment, but obviously the heartworm treatment was critical. LABMED agreed to fund the cost of Abbe's heartworm treatment.

Abbe is currently residing in a foster home and is doing well. They report that they are working with her on some separation anxiety behaviors. "Apparently the poor pup has had a rough life emotionally as well. She settles visibly with each passing day. In fact, she's having a hard time resting enough after the heartworm treatment -- wants to play with the other dog, Rambo (a lab/bassett mix) and with the cats." LABMED is thrilled that Abbe has gotten a second chance to live life as a happy, healthy Labrador.
