Andy, June 1999

Andy is an older black Lab whose owner passed away, leaving him and his two dog siblings in need of a new home. They seemed destined to go to the animal shelter to be euthanized when the niece of the owner stepped in, took in the dogs and began looking for new homes. A trip to the vet revealed that Andy had heartworms which needed to be treated. LABMED funded Andy's heartworm treatment. His rescuer reports that although he appears to be grieving, he is beginning to adjust to her home and is a very sweet, gentle dog. In fact, he is adjusting so well that she had decided to keep Andy permanently. We are so happy that Andy has a new home and can enjoy his new life heartworm free.
