Bear, November 1999

Bear Bear is a chocolate male approximately 1.5 years old. He must have felt pretty lucky when he was adopted from the Monroe County Humane Society in Indiana as a young pup. Unfortunatly, Bear's adoptive owner didn't give him the care and training that all dogs require. About a year after he was adopted, his owner brought him back to the shelter complaining that "he chewed too much." Additionally, Bear was found to be heartworm positive. Time was running out for Bear at the shelter when the local all-breed rescue was able to arrange a foster home for Bear. LABMED and LLL were also contacted and both agreed to fund Bear's treatment.

Bear is now with his foster family and has started his treatments. He wasn't feeling so great after his first treatment but he should be back to his old self soon. Bear is good with other dogs, children and strangers and once his heartworm has been treated, he will make someone a wonderful companion.
