Hershey4, April, 2001

Hershey4

Hershey 4 was just another of a long line of stray dogs at Animal Care and Control of Palm Beach County, FL, each of them waiting patiently for an owner to show up. No one came to claim Hershey, though. But he was one of the lucky ones who was saved from certain death by volunteers from the Animal Rescue Force:

This very good natured and friendly chocolate Lab appeared to be about 5 years old. He seemed to be in generally good health - but as is the case with many stray dogs, Hershey tested positive for heartworm. Animal Rescue Force was able to provide a place for Hershey to stay while he underwent the harsh treatment for heartworm, but their funds were limited. LABMED was contacted, and we were happy to help give Hershey a second chance for a healthy future!

Hershey tolerated the heartworm treatment well. And the good news is that Hershey has found the perfect family to appreciate his loving and gentle nature. A neighbor of Hershey's foster family thought that Hershey would be just right for the family of their children. The young couple drove to Florida from Maryland to meet Hershey, and promptly took him back home with them!
