Success StoriesLuke2, March, 2001
Paragould Animal Welfare Society in Arkansas received a phone call from one of the town's residents to come pick up a dog that had shown up at his house. One of the PAWS volunteers responded. She found a friendly yellow Lab and brought him back to the shelter. This Lab was soon named Luke. Luke was a bit thin and had some minor injuries, among them what looked like an infected bite wound on his right front leg. The leg was noticeably swollen so Luke was taken to the vet for treatment. The wound was cleaned and Luke was given a course of antibiotics to clear up the infection. One of the shelter workers applied to LABMED for funding and we were happy to be able to help. Luke is ready to go to a forever home; he is a young dog - his caretakers and the vet think he is about 1 1/2 - very handsome and has the typical friendly Lab temperament. Luke will be the perfect choice for adopters who like to take long walks and never get tired of throwing a tennis ball; he would be perfect for a family with children. Update, April, 2001Luke has already found his forever home. LABMED just got a note from his rescuer that he has been adopted. |
