Success Stories

Rex, March, 2001

Rex is available for adoption, check the LABMED Adoption Page for contact information.

Rex Rex, a 2 year old chocolate Lab, wandered to a home in a peaceful Arkansas neighborhood. A simple glance at Rex's neck made the family take Rex in and call a known rescue contact. His neck was red and bloody - the trauma to his neck was described as "gruesome" and "horrific", and this, unfortunately, is not an exaggeration. The vet suggested he must have had something very tight around his neck for a long time - breaking his bonds may have saved his life!

The wounds looked terrible, but the vet was confident that he could mend Rex's physical wounds - only time would tell if he would suffer emotionally.

The cost to fix Rex up wasn't too high, but financial aid would help. A search on the internet found LABMED, and an application was sent in. LABMED was happy to help this sweet Lab! Luckily the rescuer worked quickly. In fact, she worked so quickly that she didn't name this chocolate boy until a week after the application was filed! I'm glad to say he is doing fine, BOTH physically and emotionally.
