The Ricardos - Dezi, Lucy3 and Little Ricky, April, 2001

Dezi

When their former owner moved away, the three chocolate Labs were left on their own to roam the streets of their Indiana town. Turned in to the St. Joseph Humane Society, the three rambunctious Labs were rescued by volunteers with Great Lakes Lab Rescue and promptly named for the Ricardo family: Dezi, Lucy, and Little Ricky!

Although the threesome were in generally good health, they all tested positive for heartworms. In addition, they needed to be spayed or neutered before they could be placed with new families. Great Lakes Lab Rescue held a fund-raiser for the chocolate trio, but were unable to raise enough to pay for all of the necessary medical costs. LABMED was contacted and we were happy that we could help out.

Lucy3
Little Ricky

Each of the three survived the heartworm treatment with minimal complications - never a happy experience for a dog, though. When they have been spayed or neutered, Dezi, Lucy and Little Ricky are looking forward to having families of their own who care enough to keep them safe and healthy!
