Success Stories

Smokey2, April 2002

Smokey2 Poor Smokey had lived her seven to ten years in a muddy pen in her former owner's yard. When she was rescued, she had been starved to the point that all her ribs protruded. This black, female Lab-mix from North Carolina was a medical mess. She had several mammary masses, a small tumor on her eyelid, an inguinal hernia and she was heartworm positive. She also had renal disease.

Smokey's rescuer began the treatment for the sweet girl, and applied to LABMED for help. The treatments and tumor removals were done in stages because of Smokey's poor condition and renal disease. LABMED helped with funding for the diagnostics and tumor removal.

Smokey2Smokey lived happily with her foster family for about six months where she enjoyed being in the house. She received lots of attention and petting.

Sadly, Smokey's renal disease took her life. She only got to enjoy those few months of happiness.
