Success Stories

Sophie2, April 2002

Sophie2Sophie, a big, friendly, 4 year old yellow girl was found as a stray in Florida in March 2002. She was fortunate enough to end up in the hands of Kona's Haven, a Lab rescue. Sophie was found to be heartworm-positive, but otherwise in good shape. The rescue applied to LABMED for help with funding Sophie's treatment and we were happy to help out.

Sophie is well now and has already found a wonderful adoptive home where she is thriving with all the new-found love and attention. Her adoptive family even contributed towards her medical expenses. We hear that she even sleeps in bed with her new owner! Thanks to a second chance, it's a happy ending for Sophie.

Remember that it's easy to prevent heartworm infestation. Make sure your dog receives preventive medicine regularly.
