Success Stories

Wickliffe, March, 2001

Wickliffe(Emma)The staff members of an animal emergency clinic in Wickliffe, OH, were very sad when this little black Lab-mix puppy was carried into the office with a broken leg. The injury was a severe one - a proximal spiral femoral break in the puppy's right rear leg - and the owners were unwilling (or perhaps unable) to pay for the needed surgery. However, the owners did agree that one of the staff members could rescue the puppy and place her in a new home once the leg had been repaired.

A pin was inserted in the puppy's leg, and the lucky little girl was taken home by her rescuer to foster. LABMED was glad to be able to help with the costs, and the vet provided a generous rescue discount, also. Although the puppy is still hobbling around (and will be until the pin can be removed), she can now move very quickly and is getting into the usual puppy mischief! And she is no longer identified as Wickliffe - this lucky pup has been adopted and is now known as "Emma". She goes to work with her new mom every day, and is happily being spoiled rotten!
